Principal Ruby Engineer – Backend – Berlin

Job Description:

They are seeking a highly skilled Principal Ruby Engineer with a strong background in backend development to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our monolithic backend architecture using Ruby on Rails. You will work closely with our cross-functional development team to ensure the platform’s stability, scalability, and performance.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop and maintain our monolithic backend architecture using Ruby on Rails
Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code that meets the highest standards
Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement new features and improvements
Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure the platform’s stability and performance
Collaborate with other engineers to design and implement scalable and efficient systems
Mentor and coach junior engineers to improve their skills and promote best practices

Requirements:

8+ years of experience in backend development using Ruby on Rails
Strong understanding of monolithic architecture and experience working with large-scale, complex systems
Experience with database design and performance optimization
Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and algorithms
Experience with testing frameworks such as RSpec and Capybara
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Experience in mentoring and coaching junior engineers
